A scientific poll released on November 1, produced by WPA Intelligence, shows “broad support across the District for No Vote - No Tax. This crosses every ward and ideological break. Overall support is 81%.”

For years, candidate for U.S. Delegate, Nelson Rimensnyder, has argued that support for No Vote – No Tax is broad and deep among residents of the District, regardless of race, class, age, gender, ward, or political persuasion.  A scientific survey just released provides strong evidence that he is correct. (The poll comprised a sample size of 759 with a margin of error of ±3.6%.)

Summary of the poll results includes the following points:

  • Results show that overall, the no vote - no tax position has very strong support (81%).

  • While support is relatively lower among conservatives (77%) and moderates (77%), these groups also make up a smaller portion of the overall sample (con 18%/mod 30%) and still indicate a remarkably high level of support.

  • Liberals make up nearly half of the overall sample (43%) and overwhelmingly support the initiative (84%).

  • As shown in the table, the initiative notably has overwhelming support in Ward 7 (91%) and Ward 8 (90%), predominately African American, Wards.

  • Similar to Liberals, voters earning $50,000 to $100,000 strongly support the initiative (84%) and make up one-third of the overall sample (33%).

  • Even the lowest level of support (67%) in Ward 2, still constitutes an impressive majority of likely voters.
